BAIC Group and CATL Signed the Agreement upon Deepening the Strategic Cooperation
On June 18, BAIC Group and CATL signed the agreement upon
deepening the strategic cooperation to further deepen
their cooperation in the field of new energy industry and jointly enhance their core competitiveness.
Zhang Jianyong, Party Secretary and Chairman of BAIC Group, Zeng Yuqn, Chairman and CEO of CATL attended the ceremony. Liu Yu, Vice General Manager of BAIC Group and Zhu Wei, Executive President of Passenger Car Division of CATL signed the agreement. Zheng Shu, CFO of CATL, leaders of EVOGO, CIIC Intelligent Technology and related business departments of CATL, Hu Hanjun and Xie Wei, Vice General Managers of BAIC Group, heads of relevant departments of headquarters and BAIC New Energy and Beijing Automotive Technology Center attended the ceremony.
In terms of a new generation of intelligent chassis,
both parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in the
next generation of pure electric platform CIIC skateboard chassis project,
and join hands in research on the skateboard chassis architecture,
system, process, cost and balance performance,
striving to define automobiles in light of the scenarios
and building the products in an intelligent, personalized manner.
In the field of in battery swap business,
BAIC Group has the advantages in development of
new energy vehicles, especially in battery-swap
vehicles and market expansion, and has accumulated
rich experience in product development and promotion
after years of practice in battery-swap taxis
and online car hailing in China; while CATL has
been promoting battery swap standardization
through continuous technology and business
model innovation since it launched the brand
of Chocolate Battery Swap Service Brand.
On the top of their respective advantages, both parties and EVOGO,
a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL will focus their cooperation on
the development of battery-swap vehicles and battery-swap modules,
circulation of battery-swap modules and battery-related data management,
regional cooperation of battery-swap stations and others.
The parties and their subsidiaries will also spread cooperation to the development,
sale of vehicles related to heavy truck battery swap business,
sale, leasing of the supporting batteries, as well as energy services.
At the signing ceremony, BAIC Group, CATL and EVOGO signed a framework agreement for the battery-swap project, and Beijing Automotive Technology Center and CIIC Intelligent Technology signed a letter of intent for cooperation in key technologies of the new generation platform.
As a key enterprise in China's automobile industry, BAIC Group has strengthened its layout in recent years by focusing on the two main technical routes: new energy and intelligent networking, continuing to enhance and strengthen its competitiveness in new energy vehicles.

BAIC Group and CATL have a long history of cooperation and signed a strategic cooperation agreement in September 2022 and a strategic cooperation agreement on comprehensive business support and advanced technology empowerment in April 2023.
The signing of this agreement upon deepening strategic cooperation will further give play to BAIC Group's competitive advantages and brand competitiveness in the new energy vehicle market, and greatly leverage on the technological advantages and industrial strength of CATL in the field of new energy power batteries, which means that the two parties have reached a new level of cooperation in the field of new energy industry, and are making joint contribution of more strength to the new development of China's automobile industry.
