BAIC BJEV ACHIEVES ASPICE CERTIFICATE OF CAPABILITY LEVEL 3

Beijing, China, Feb. 8, 2020 – Beijing Electric Vehicle Co., LTD. (BAIC BJEV) has been awarded ASPICE certificate Level 3 by TÜV Rheinland, a globally renowned institution engaged in testing, assessment and certification. As the top grading in the Chinese auto industry, ASPICE L3 also demonstrates the unparalleled capability of BAIC BJEV in auto software development.

BAIC BJEV significantly adds this ASPICE L3 honor into its long list of internationally authoritative certificates including ISO26262 ASIL-D certificate and ASIL-C certificate in 2016, and TMMI3 certificate in 2020, which remarks its worldwide strong competitiveness in safe functions, software development & testing, etc.

Originating from Europe, Automotive Software Process Improvement Capability Determination (ASPICE) is a model generally used by producers of auto parts to improve ECU, reduce software problems and enhance customer experiences. Since 2005, it has been advocated and adopted by more and more vehicle manufacturers and producers of auto parts as the admittance standard to evaluate software suppliers.

ASPICE model consists of 8 process groups and 32 process areas, covering management, support, procurement, system engineering, software engineering, supplies, reusability and process modification. With gradings of L0-L5, a higher ASPICE level means stronger capabilities of the evaluated organization in software development and management, leading to high-quality and satisfactory auto software products. At present, most of famous vehicle manufacturers like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen include ASPICE L2 certificates on at least 16 process areas into mandatory conditions of their vendor selection, while many Chinese auto companies strive for ASPICE certificates. Therefore, ASPICE has stood as a widely recognized evaluation standard of auto software development.

As a pioneer in independent R & D and the manufacture of new energy vehicles, BAIC BJEV is committed to launching customer-oriented premium products, in which a world-class auto software development system is indispensable. Following the ISO26262 ASIL-D certificate and ASIL-C certificate in 2016, the company gears up to introduce the ASPICE model and set up standard development processes in demands analysis, designs, testing and QA by combining ASPICE requirements, ISO26262 safety standards and years of self-development experiences. Due to strict quality control through review and KPI systems, ASPICE-based software development process, implementation guidance & templates and over 200 checklists, BAIC BJEV passed certificates L2 and L3 of TÜV Rheinland in June 2019 and 2021, involving 16 process areas such as system development & testing, software development & testing, project management, supplier supervision, configuration management, change management, QA, problem management and VDA.

With requirements of ASPICE L3 and ISO26262, BAIC BJEV will establish standardized processes of software development to curb problems, continuously optimize for the best practices and improve production quality, so as to create better, safer and smarter new energy vehicles.

The achievement of the ASPICE L3 certificate confirms the leading software development capability of BAIC BJEV. At the dawn of the software-defined auto era, the company will take the advantage of ASPICE development system to build up an abundant technical knowledge database, perfect auto software and produce battery electric vehicles with more new know-how and amazing user experiences.
