
BAIC SWEPT DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ACHIEVED FOUR STRAIGHT WINS AT THE 2023 CHINA TAKLIMAKAN RALLY
On May 31st, the final stage of the 2023 China Taklimakan Rally took place. On June 1st, as the racing cars sprinted towards the finish line, the grand award ceremony for the rally was held, marking the successful end of the event. BAIC took double victories at this rally, garnering an impressive total of 3 award certificates, 11 gold helmet awards, and 21 trophies! All five BAIC racing cars successfully finished the race with a 100% completion rate, with each member of the team ranking within the top 15 of the entire race. This marks an incredible fourth consecutive win for BAIC at the China Taklimakan Rally!
BAIC No.102 team, Liu Yangui and Chen Feng won the national 4WD group championship and achieved third place overall at the rally, securing two first-place stage finishes, four gold helmet awards, and eight first-place stage finishes in their group.
Similarly, BAIC No. 104 team, Zhang Guoyu and Oriol Mena won the T1+ championship and garnered four first-place stage finishes, seven gold helmet awards, and eight first-place stage finishes in their group. Zhang Guoyu was also awarded the only Outstanding Driver award given in the auto group by the rally organizing committee.
The No.115 team, Zi Yunliang and Sha He won the T1+ runner-up and sixth place overall in their first participation in the China Taklimakan Rally. The team was also awarded the Best Newcomer award by the rally organizing committee. In total, out of the ten stages from SSS to SS9, BAIC won six first-place finishes of them. Out of the 18 gold helmet awards given out in the T1+ and T1 groups, BAIC won eleven, showcasing off-road expertise and dominance in the rally.
The No.125 team, Wang Qiang and Ma Miao won the national 4WD group third-place prize, finishing 8th overall. Meanwhile, the No.127 team, Yang Shuai and Long Maowei won fourth place in the T1.1 group, fifth place in the national 4WD group, and 14th place overall.
After the 4,000-kilometer challenge, BAIC was crowned double champions.
China Taklimakan Rally returned after an absence of three years. BAIC took on the challenges of the Taklamakan Desert with abundant experience and comprehensive strengths. From the ten stages from SSS to SS9, BAIC won a remarkable six of them, showcasing unparalleled expertise and dominance in the rally championship.
After an absence of three years for the rally, BAIC made a triumphant return with off-road expertise and excellence as strong as ever.
The No.127 team, Yang Shuai and Long Maowei faced numerous challenges throughout this rally, never giving up despite adversity. While placing 15th overall after SS8, Yang Shuai and Long Maowei pushed even harder in SS9, successfully overtaking other competitors to finish fourth in their group and 14th overall, helping their team secure a victory alongside their teammates.
After over 4,000 kilometers of challenge and two weeks of day-and-night endurance, BAIC has completed this Taklimakan Rally. It is the nature of off-road drivers to keep pushing forward bravely. The 2023 China Taklimakan Rally has come to a successful end, and BAIC is about to carry its honors to the starting point of the next challenge!
