BAIC ONCE AGAIN STOOD ON THE PODIUM AND WON THE CHINA SAE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARD

On May 16th, the 2022 China Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Science & Technology Award Ceremony took place. Nominated by BAIC GROUP and led by BAIC FOTON, the "Key Technology and Application for AMT Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicle Development and Testing in Complex Scenarios" project was awarded the second prize of the 2022 China SAE Science & Technology Award.



As an important mode of transportation, heavy-duty commercial vehicles face complex usage scenarios and high usage intensities and play a significant role in energy conservation, emission reduction, and carbon reduction. However, the use of standardized operating conditions often falls short in meeting the complex development and testing needs of commercial vehicles in complex scenarios.


To tackle this challenge, BAIC FOTON, in collaboration with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) has spent nearly a decade developing commercial vehicle scenario segmentation technology based on the core elements of the "human-vehicle-load-scenario." They have created a comprehensive scenario-based commercial vehicle operating conditions system and established a set of durability virtual test technology for heavy commercial vehicles based on engineering conditions and powertrain matching and control technology for commercial vehicles based on complex scenario recognition.


The fifth-generation of FOTON AMT heavy-duty commercial vehicle has reduced development cycle time by 14 months, lowered development costs by 117 million RMB, and boasted a comprehensive fuel consumption rate of 41.6L per 100 kilometers with the usage of the innovative technologies mentioned above. The fifth-generation of FOTON AMT heavy-duty commercial vehicle is superior to similar products in its class, with significantly improved reliability and obvious weight reduction effect. 



In addition, BAIC GROUP and its member companies actively participate in the joint innovation of the automobile industry. The "Key Technology and Application of Vehicle Chassis Line Control" project, in which BAIC New Energy participated, was awarded the first prize, while the "Key Technology and Industrialization of High-performance Metal Plate Hydrogen Fuel Cell for Vehicle Use," with the participation of BAIC FOTON AUV New Energy, was awarded the third prize.


The China SAE Science & Technology Award (formerly known as the China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Award) is a national science and technology award for the automotive industry. This award, which has been in existence for over 30 years, plays a crucial role in encouraging the growth of automotive technology talent and promoting the advancement of automotive industry technology. The award has become a prestigious and influential science and technology award in the automotive industry in China.


BAIC GROUP has won this important award multiple times, covering various sectors such as passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, auto parts, and technological talents, fully demonstrating the strength of "High-tech BAIC." Among them, the "Key Technology and Industrialization of EIC Platforms (battery, motor and electronic control system of NEVs) for Electric Vehicles", "Key Technology and Application of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses" and "BJ80 Light Military Off-road Vehicle Independent Research and Development" projects were awarded the first prize of the China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Award.
